At Ohio Virtual Academy, we’ve got two big reasons to celebrate! Two outstanding OHVA robotics teams earned 2nd Place finishes at the 2025 K12 Robotics League national finals, proving that hard work, teamwork, and STEM smarts really do pay off. From coding challenges to real-world robot runs, these students showed what OHVA excellence looks like on the national stage—and we couldn’t be prouder!

  • Benjamin, 4th grade
  • Carter, 6th grade

This dynamic duo impressed judges with a top score of 60 and a blazing-fast run time of 28.01 seconds. Their quick thinking, problem-solving mindset, and strong collaboration helped them rise to the challenge and secure 2nd Place in their division.

  • Amyah, 7th grade
  • Jonas, 8th grade

The Mech_Masters brought their best to the competition, earning a top score of 80 and a smooth, strategic run time of 34.47 seconds. Their focus, precision, and confidence in coding helped them stand tall among top middle-grade teams from across the country.

A High-Tech Adventure

The road to the finals wasn’t easy. After months of designing, coding, and perfecting their virtual robots, top teams from around the U.S. came together on June 3, 2025, for the ultimate test of skills at K12 Headquarters in Reston, Virginia.

Unlike the earlier rounds, the championship finals brought the action to life with EV3 robots, physical mats, and real-time problem-solving. Over three intense rounds, students were challenged to apply everything they’d learned in a high-stakes, hands-on competition.

🌟 Big Effort, Big Recognition

Only one team in each grade band could take home the top trophy—but every finalist earned national recognition. As 2nd Place winners, The MechTech Mechanics and Mech_Masters received official K12 Robotics League certificates and serious bragging rights for their incredible performance.
