OHVA: A Deeper Look
Ohio Virtual Academy District Profile
Online Schooling You Can Trust
Ohio Virtual Academy (OHVA) has nearly two decades of experience in online learning, teaching, and supporting students for success. Our goal today, just as it was when we opened in 2002, is to inspire and empower students through an education experience tailored to each child’s needs.

Student Mental Health is a Priority
At OHVA, we believe social emotional learning is a critical part of education and human development. Our staff uses the 7 Mindsets approach to help students develop and apply skills that will help them manage their emotions, show empathy for others, establish supportive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
The OHVA School Counseling Department received the prestigious Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) designation, the highest recognition in the school counseling profession. We are one of only five schools in the state to obtain the RAMP designation.
Wrap-Around Support
Our students are not alone. Students at every grade level have a variety of support staff beyond our homeroom teachers. Our team of passionate school counselors, academic specialists, advocates, and administrators provide wrap-around support to help students engage in learning in positive and productive ways.
Purple Star Designation
Ohio Virtual Academy is proud to welcome and support military families across the state. We offer numerous resources to meet Ohio’s military-connected youth’s unique social, emotional, and academic needs. OHVA is one of 31 K–12 schools and the only all-virtual school to receive the prestigious Ohio Purple Star Designation from the Ohio Department of Education (DOE) for helping students of military-connected families.
Social Opportunities for Online Learners
OHVA is pleased to offer engaging online clubs for all student grade levels, with interests and topics that keep them coming back. With gaming clubs, cooking, science, fine arts clubs, and more, our students have opportunities to gather online in small groups to build friendships around shared interests.
Beyond the classroom, our students have opportunities to participate in events focused on literacy, spelling, math, history, educational adventures, outdoor learning, and more.
