Evie’s Journey
When Evie’s family chose Ohio Virtual Academy in 4th grade, they wanted a learning environment that felt purposeful, not pressured. OHVA gave Evie the flexibility and support to challenge herself academically and pursue opportunities early.
As valedictorian of the class of 2025, Evie graduated with both a high school diploma and an associate’s degree, ready to follow her passion for forensic science.
Kelly Peppard, Digital Arts
Kelly Peppard brings digital art to life for OHVA students, helping them explore their creative potential while earning fine arts credit. In her class, students use accessible software, tackle open-ended projects, and gain confidence in skills they didn’t know they had—all while preparing for careers in the arts or beyond.

Diana Ritterbeck, a veteran OHVA math teacher, has seen students grow in ways they never expected. From shy students becoming leaders to those who once struggled with math now excelling, Ms. Ritterbeck knows online learning can help every student find their path.

I’ve been able to do so many things that you might think wouldn’t be possible in online school. I’ve had debate club, trivia club, an esports team, and so many others. Sure, that starts behind a computer screen, but it’s a world that’s opened through it.
We have prom and homecoming. The dances are so fun. You feel safe there, and everybody’s very welcoming. They put a lot of work into it. Student council runs it, so they get to decide all the dance themes and ideas, and I got to [provide] some input, so that was fun!
The community with OHVA is excellent. All the activities, the field trips, the online engagement, even though they don't have peer-to-peer interactions daily in person, they build friends. Some kids were even right down the street from us!
