Clubs & Activities
Clubs and activities are an important part of school life, giving students the chance to explore new interests, connect with peers, and build a stronger sense of community. Each school offers a mix of teacher-led activities and student-initiated clubs. All are listed here so families can easily see the opportunities available.
Types of Clubs
Student-Initiated Clubs
- Created and led by students around shared interests.
- Please note, in line with the Equal Access Act:
- Clubs must be initiated and led by students.
- They may not be sponsored by the school.
- A faculty monitor is assigned for custodial purposes only, in a non-participatory role.
- All clubs must comply with school policies.
Curricular Workshops and Activities
- Organized by school staff, these activities reflect educator expertise or interests and are part of our enrichment offerings.
Interested in starting a student-initiated club? Please contact your school to submit the request. They’ll review the request and follow up with next steps.
At OHVA, Online Clubs are a place of belonging. Our Online Clubs provide a way for students to pursue their interests, foster friendships and grow in their social skills. All have a staff member present for club sessions to facilitate positive connections.
- The school’s code of conduct from the handbook must be agreed upon and followed. Clubs provide a great opportunity to reinforce our school-wide expectations We A.R.E. OHVA (Accountable, Respectful and Engaged.)
- Learning Coaches are responsible to sign up the student. We follow up with a notification email to the Learning Coach to confirm the student’s registration in a club.
- Students may participate in up to 3 different clubs, but some clubs are open even after three have been chosen. (Belonging Book Club, Character Strong, Cardy Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions SADD, and Gender Sexuality Alliance GSA.)
Please review the OHVA Club details here before signing up.
